Hidy-ho, neighbors! I’m Jocelyn, the new Marketing and Sales Mischief-Maker at Picky Bars. BOO-F-YAH!
Look! I'm in Bend, OR!
I’m super pumped about starting my new role at Picky Bars. Annnnddd I am excited about moving to Bend, Oregon allllll the way from New York City! Yup, you read that right. I’m moving from a city with 8 million of my closest friends to a town of 80,000 strangers. Well, I know 6 people, and that's including Jude.
A few weeks ago, I went out to Bend for my 5th round interview (!!). Note to future Picky Bars employees: I’ve never interviewed at Google, but I’m pretty sure The Picky Crew could give their interview process a run for its money.
Somewhere between sweating bullets during my final interview which included a PowerPoint presentation plus Q&A session, drinking all the Kombucha (seriously, I’m addicted now), eating 7 million Picky Bars, running and hiking on the gorgeous Bend trails, getting to know the Picky Crew, checking out the local eats, and asking each of them 8,354 questions (true story), I was miraculously offered the position at Picky Bars.
When they offered me the job, I think my reaction was something like this:
I was excited, overwhelmed and shocked to say the least. I think I blacked out for a moment, and I had the guts to ask Jesse, Lauren, and Patrick to “sell me the job”. [Face Meet Palm. Who did I think I was?] They all gave me great, honest answers, and they confirmed that I was not only a fit for Picky Bars, but that Picky Bars was a fit for me. #tearjerker
As if I needed any extra sweetening of the deal, I met Laurel at the Eugene Marathon in the Spring, Loren taught me how to wake-board while I was in Bend, and I went for a run with Sasha upon returning to NYC. They are all super awesome peeps!
I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to be offered an opportunity to work with a team, brand, and product that I truly believe in. Seriously, is this real life? Bomb diggity!
A little bit about me: I was born in Bermuda, I am a Canadian citizen (Go Habs!), and I grew up in a small town in Connecticut. I graduated from The University of Tulsa, and I have lived in New York City for the last five years working in the Insurance Biz. Major industry, career and life change alert!
My Sports Life: I’m no pro-athlete, which is awesome since my role is in marketing and sales, so I can leave all the racing to the Pros. But I love playing sports, running, riding my bike and being as active as possible.
My Picky Club Story: I have been a member of the Picky Club since the beginning of time, also known as November 2011. How did I hear about the Picky Club? Randomly, I was given a Picky Bar by someone who followed me on twitter at the Marine Corps Marathon in October 2011. The Picky Bar was freakin' awesome(!), and while at the time, I barely knew who Lauren, Jesse or Steph were, I joined the Picky Club because I loved the bars. As someone who has spent almost two years in da Club, I can honestly say that I don’t know how people live without a Club membership. Not only do I love having my Picky Bars delivered every month without the hassle of grocery shopping, but I also look forward to receiving some killah club perks and prizes. ← my first (unintentional) sales pitch as a Picky employee!
If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask below! Let's do this! See you on the flip side (Oregon).
...now you see why we hired her. Boooyah!
