What is the shelf-life of Picky Bars?
Each bar has a “best by” date printed on it, and is usually good for 13 months after production without refrigeration. We only use natural vitamin E as a preservative which, with our packaging, extends the limited shelf-life of the natural ingredients we use.
What flavors do they come in?
Our original flavor is called Lauren’s Mega Nuts: Peanut Butter Booyah.fIt is made with Peanut butter, mixed nuts, semi sweet chocolate chips and all the other goodness we’ve listed. It tastes like crispy peanut butter and jelly but with a little zing.
Our next flavor is called All-In-Almond: Agave-Sweetened Awesomesauce (named by Lauren F). This little guy is 100% vegan, almond butter based and sweetened with agave nectar. Yeah, that’s possible!
Next flavor up: Need for Seed: Sunflower Butter Sensation, which like it sounds is seed based and made using sunflower seed butter. What does it taste like? Customer Neil H. came up with name so maybe he can describe. For now let’s just say all the flavor you loved about the original but safe for those with nut allergies.
Our next concoction is the Smooth Caffeinator: Hazelnut Mocha Madness. Just like the name this bar is as smooth as they come with rich hazelnut butter mixed with a sprinkling of roasted coffee giving you that extra buzz you need. 100% vegan and contains about 25 mg of caffeine from the fair trade organic coffee.
Our latest and greatest creation is Blueberry Boomdizzle (formerly Runner’s High): Blueberry Vanilla Hemp-Hustlin’. This new flavor combines the taste-gasmic combo of vanilla extract and blueberries with the complete amino acid profile of hemp seeds. 100% vegan.
How much caffeine is in the Smooth Caffeinator?
We estimate the amount to be around 25 mg caffeine per bar on the high end. As a reference, this is a similar amount to a cup of tea or 1/3 of a cup of coffee.
Do you make custom orders?
We currently don’t have the capacity to make custom orders. We created the original Picky Bar custom to our specific needs as picky professional athletes, knowing that many other athletes of all abilities would share those nutritional needs. Then we added new recipes to meet the needs of more “Picky Eaters” out there. We will base new recipe development on customer needs, so share your opinion by emailing email@example.com.
What are the basic nutrition facts?
200 calories, 7g fat, 28g carbohydrates, 7g protein. That’s 25% of the calories from fat, 60% from carbohydrate and 15% from protein. Check out the specific Nutrition Facts for each bar!
When I eat a Picky Bar, what am I eating?
Basically a perfectly balanced trail mix of fruits, nuts, some honey / agave and a few chocolate chips smashed together. Done! No artificial ingredients or unnatural processes.
Do Picky Bars contain any added vitamins, minerals or supplements?
Nope, other than a tiny amount of natural Vitamin E to keep our real food ingredients fresh. The fruits and nuts we use already contain the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients you need. Hooray!!!
Are there any artificial sweeteners in them?
Heck no! Are you kidding me? We personally like to avoid eating chemicals, and we don’t enjoy gas, diarrhea and bloating, but to each his own.
What is the best way to store Picky Bars to preserve flavor?
We use natural Vitamin E and specially designed packaging to help our bars stay fresh and tasty for around 13 months (much longer than they usually stay around!) That being said, they are made from real food and can be affected by extreme heat, which can make the oil in nuts go rancid. Therefore, we recommend that you avoid storing the bars in locations that are exposed to high temperatures. In our experience, even on its final days, a Picky Bar will still taste fresher than your average manufactured bar.
What is the actual size of a Picky Bar?
Each bar can be cut a little different, but for the most part, the actual dimensions are roughly 2.67″ x 1.78″ x 0.5″.
How can Picky Bars be used as fuel during training/racing?
A Picky Bar contains 28g of Carbohydrate. Depending on your exercise level and nutrition needs you could experiment with using a bar as your race fuel if your stomach tolerates. We recommend pre and post nutrition about an hour before training and within 30 mins of completion to maximize the recovery benefits.
What is the record number of Picky Bars someone has eaten in a day?
As far as we know, the record is held by our CEO, Jesse Thomas: 11 bars in one day. He has been known to consume six Picky Bars on one of his long bike rides. Submit future record attempts, with video evidence, to firstname.lastname@example.org for verification.
Are there support groups to help me with my addiction to your product?
