Lifepoints Adventure Grant: SF Foodie Guide

Our first Lifepoints Adventure Grant winners, Pam Jimison and her daughter Lauren, took to the bustling streets of San Francisco for a mother-daughter foodie getaway. Pam applied for the grant, expressing their shared love for food and cooking, and a desire to spend some one-on-one time with Lauren since their busy schedules had kept them apart a while. Plus, Lauren just got engaged, so they needed to properly celebrate!

Their dream adventure included a cooking class at Sur La Table, a few “treat yourself” meals, and a night in a luxe hotel. Oh and of course, coffee.

We asked the duo for their “Quick Stop” foodie favorites from the trip. Check them out below, and have a look at Pam’s blog for more food porn and delicious details. Enjoy!

San Francisco Foodie Tour

with Pam and Lauren Jimison

(City Fix Adventure Grant Winners)

Favorite Coffee Shop: Sightglass Coffee, The Station SF

Why’d you love it (Pam): Their pour over was wonderful. It was earthy and strong. Next time I would try their Gibraltar! I love a great espresso.

Why’d you love it (Lauren): Nola Iced Coffee. It’s their style of a Vietnamese iced coffee. It’s cold brewed with some sweetness–but still strong. At the 7th street location, they also have an affogato bar using Salt & Straw ice cream with espresso poured on top!

Area/neighborhood for mindless wandering/strolling: Cow Hollow! We strolled the darling streets for boutique shops and wedding stores. The Embarcadero Ferry Building is always fun as well. It is more “touristy” than Cow Hollow which has a more small town feel.

Pam’s favorite Quick Bite: Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream: I had the Blue Bottle Coffee Ice Cream with Bourbon Caramel on top. Wow. It was amazing!

Lauren’s favorite Quick Bite: Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream: I had the graham cracker milk ice cream. Perfect post-dinner treat.

Spot for a nice/fancy/“treat yourself” meal: The Boulevard

The single best thing you ate the whole trip (Pam): Maryland Chesapeake Bay Soft Shell Crab – Pan Sauteed with Sweet Red Prawns, Panzanella, Lemon & Whole Grain Mustard Aioli. It was delicious! The crab melted in your mouth.

The single best thing you ate the whole trip (Lauren): Vegetarian dish from Boulevard. I also know it’s a great restaurant when they can make a wonderful, rich, and complex vegetarian dish. Our crab as an appetizer was also on point–perfectly crispy and buttery.

Other than great food and a day in the city, what was your most memorable part of the trip?

Pam: We had so many wonderful memories! My favorite part was the Sur La Table cooking class. It was fun baking with Lauren. I also loved going out to a really nice dinner. We walked tons which gave us great time to talk, shop, and spend time together.

Lauren: Just spending the whole time with my mom! We laughed and adventured and enjoyed the city together
